  • Froedtert South’s Speech and Language Pathology Department is dedicated to improving quality of life and helping our patients return to their daily activities.

    Our team assesses and treats disorders that impair a person’s memory, thinking skills, ability to speak or to swallow.  We treat adults and children, both as inpatients and outpatients.  Individualized treatment plans are created to re-establish functional skills and improve communication ability.

    Common medical conditions that cause speech, language, cognition or swallowing disorders are:

    • Dysphagia (Swallowing) Therapy

      Dysphagia occurs when a person has difficulty swallowing. This can occur following a stroke, head and neck cancer, or any surgery that is completed in the area of the neck. It can also be caused by weakness.
