Dr. Anthony Zacharias is a fellowship trained and board-certified orthopedic sports medicine physician with extensive experience in treating athletes of all ages and abilities. Dr. Zacharias has previously treated University of Wisconsin athletes and is current team physician for St. Joseph. He has authored over 20 manuscripts and book chapters and lectures and teaches courses around the country on topics such as hip preservation, shoulder injuries and knee ligament reconstruction. With a passion for sports and a commitment to excellence, Dr. Zacharias provides personalized care tailored to each patient's unique needs. Dr. Mohammad Al Sawaf is our shoulder and elbow expert. He is a board-certified orthopedic specialist with additional training in upper extremity advanced surgical techniques. He was the upper extremity team physician for Carthage college and provided local high school coverage for football games. He combines years of experience with the latest advances in the field. With a lifelong passion for martial arts and racket sports, he is committed to help you maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
Dr. Alan Gegenheimer, Chairman of the Orthopedic Department, and board-certified American Orthopedic Academy fellow has over 20 years of experience treating sports and trauma-related injuries. During Dr. Gegenheimer’s Navy residency, he was trained by graduates of the Kerlan-Jobes Institute and the Mayo Clinic, allowing him to care for our nation’s finest. Dr Gegenheimer has been the sports physician for Carthage College, Tremper High School, Indian Trail High School, and Grayslake North High Schools. He has a love for sailing and downhill skiing. Dr Gegenheimer will take his time with you to find the best treatment and get you back to doing the things you enjoy.

Dayton Pye, MS, LAT, ATC is a certified athletic trainer providing outreach services at St. Joseph's Catholic Academy. She covers all home sports events including varsity home and away football games and daily athletic training services for the high school.
